CreateHK Logo Design Competition: Call for Entry 15/10/2009 – 20/11/2009

Creative industries are important economic drivers of Hong Kong. They help increase the innovation capacity of the economy and provide a powerhouse for future economic growth. To spearhead the development of the local creative industries, Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) was set up under the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau on 1 June 2009. To tie in with its establishment, CreateHK is organising the CreateHK Logo Design Competition with support from organisations including the Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Designers Association.

Open Group: This award honours the creativity of logo design contributed by the professional practitioners in the design industry and the general public.

Student Group: This award is granted in recognition of excellent logo design contributed by students from professional design schools/institutions, primary/secondary schools or tertiary education institutions.

關於標誌設計比賽創意產業是香港重要的經濟支柱，有助提升工商業創新能力，成為未來經濟增長的泉源。為支援本地創意產業發展，商務及經濟發展局轄下的「創意香港」辦公室（「創意香港」）於二零零九年六月一日正式成立。為配合其成立，「創意香港」在香港生產力促進局及香港設計師協會等機構的支持下，舉辦「創意香港」的標誌設計比賽。

2009年秀聽賞提名名單即將揭曉

2009年秀聽賞廣告創意制作大賽作品推薦會日前結束了廣州站和北京站的巡展，超過50家4A以及優秀的后期制作公司均參與其中。秀聽賞的作品征集將於11月15日截止，網絡初評的名單將於12月初公布，讓我們共同期待提名榜的誕生。

The 2009 Shooting Award presentation in Guangzhou and Beijing have came to an end. With more than 50 4A companies and excellent advertising companies joined.

The deadline of call for entry of works for Shooting Award will be on 15th November, let's look forward to the birth of the nominations in early December.

Graphic Design Exhibition 09, Line Dot Line

Line Dot Line, an exhibition of work by all graduating graphic design students at AUT University, runs from 14-22 November. Line Dot Line is a reinvention of the University’s annual graphic design exhibition, with new venues and a change in the philosophy. Line Dot Line explores the students’ learning environment and the thinking behind their work, as well as displaying their finished designs.

Students’ work will also be exhibited at Cross Street Gallery and Play Thing (Newton). A film festival screening of moving image will be held at Galatos for one night on Friday 13th November from 6pm.

Founder of the well-known design firm WeWorkForThem, artist and director Michael Paul Young, attempts to explore the relationship between Nature, motion and sound in his latest work, The Interpretation. Via its abstract graphics, it leads us to wander through a forest, plunging between vines to trace our memories of microbiology and absorb the spectrums of light. The minimalist soundtrack, which adds enormously to the atmosphere, was composed by another talented artist, Michael Cina.

Giant Puppets in the Parade

Since August this year, 500 students from 97 secondary and primary schools have been working with local artists to create a variety of costumes, flags, head dresses, choreographed dance routines and giant puppets. They will showcase their work in the parade at Victoria Park on 15 November at 3:30p.m., bringing the joyous atmosphere to a celebrative peak.

今年8月至10月期間，香港青年藝術協會為來自97間中、小學，逾500位青少年及本地藝術家籌劃不同工作坊，以不同國家地域的慶祝活動及文化風俗為啟發，一同創作誇張服飾、頭飾、巡遊舞蹈、巨型木偶及小型撐桿偶等，於11月15日下午3:30開始，以巡遊匯演方式向市民大眾展示他們的作品，並讓各國喜慶歡騰的氣氛推至最高峰﹗

3-2-1 Solstice

Adapta presents its third exhibition, 3-2-1 Solstice, opening on 19 November 2009 at Schoeni Art Gallery on Old Bailey Street. Once again Adapta has gathered a group of renowned contemporary urban artists – including the much anticipated female street art legend, Swoon – bringing their works and a wide diversity of styles to Hong Kong’s doorstep. The exhibition will feature 10 of the finest urban and graphic artists from UK, USA and Hong Kong, who will be showcasing a selection of originals and prints.

The 15th ifva

The 15th ifva is now ready for entries to the Open category, Youth category, Animation category, Interactive Media category and Asian New Force category. The works of the finalists and award winners will be showcased in the ifva Festival and the 34th Hong Kong International Film Festival in March 2010. In addition to the cash prize, ifva will also steer a path for the gold award winners of its Open and Animation categories to take part in renowned film festivals in Europe by showing their award-winning works.

The Classics

The Classics is a visual project series whose purpose is to bring visibility to and celebrate the role that iconic album cover artwork has played as a cross-cultural communicator between the artist and fan, specifically within the genres of Rap, Soul/Funk, and Reggae music.

The first exhibition, entitled RAP, which will feature over 25 classic Rap music album covers (courtesy of DJ 2-Tone Jones), will take place on Wednesday September 30, 5pm-9pm, at Lounge of 3 - 1013 U Street NW. The evening will also include Complimentary Smirnoff (7pm-9pm), in addition to there being No Cover, No Dress Code and music by DJ 2-Tone Jones and Nick Da 1da.
